Evening
Gala opening night of the Paris Opera Ballet season at the Palais Garnier featuring the company’s celebrated Grand Defilé, the world premiere of Alexei Ratmansky’s Psyché set to music by César Franck with sets and costumes by contemporary artist Karen Kilimnik and a revival of Serge Lifar’s Phedre, music by Georges Auric with sets and costumes by Jean Cocteau.
Thursday, September 22
Day
Lunch at a private home or fashion house.
Evenin

Cocktail reception hosted by the French government in honor of French-American cultural exchange.

 

Opening night of the new production of Gounod’s Faust with Roberto Alagna, Paul Gay and Invar Mula, musical direction by Alain Lombard and stage direction by Jean-Louis Martinoty at the Paris Opera–Bastille.

 

Post-performance cast party with the artists and production staff in the theater’s Foyer Panoramique.

Friday, September 23
Day

Private tour of the historic Palais Garnier from the subterranean “lake” to the roof -top studios.

Lunch at a private home or official residence.

Evening

Official reception at a government ministry.

 

Performance of Strauss’s Salomé at the Paris Opera-Bastille with Angela Denoke, Stig Andersen, Doris Soffel and Juha Uusitalo, musical direction by Pinchas Steinberg and stage direction by André Engel.

 

Post-performance supper in the Marais.

Saturday, September 24

Departure for a country lunch in a private home near Paris.
Afternoon/Evening

Trip to a chateau near Paris for a farewell dinner and private concert with singers from the Atelier Lyrique, the Paris Opera’s program for young artists.

Cost per person: $3,750 ($2,000 tax-deductible), includes all of the events listed above;

 

Benefactor option: $5,000 ($3,250 tax-deductible), also includes Benefactor committee listing in the theater program and on the gala invitation, as well as VIP gala seating.
